mindfulness of breath
Sometimes, I love to talk to you rather than write. Here is my first ever vlog about the importance of breath. For those of you who love reading, I have also added the written word. Click on the photo to enjoy the video.
The more I learn and experience mindfulness, it keeps coming back to your breath. Through connecting to your breath you are connecting to your body, mind and soul. You are creating love, peace and joy in your life. And to me, it makes sense. When you are connected and grounded within, there is a whole different energy around you. There is a beautiful flow in your life.
However, when you are scattered in your thoughts and in what you do, unwanted things tend to happen. You feel off centred, frustrated, thwarted, irritated, negative and angry. It may not be obvious and you may be thinking that is not me, however, take a moment to check in with how you are feeling.
It isn’t always going to be at the surface. Yet, somewhere inside there is a feeling of being unsettled and out of sorts. That is a driver to keep on doing and being busy. And not being mindful with your breath.
5 minutes of your day
Taking 5 minutes a day of being present in stillness is enough to connect you to your breath and to keep you connected. Even if you only do it once a week, it can reap you rewards. And the more you say you haven’t got the time, the more you need to do this.
I can assure you, you will be amazed at how much better you will feel and how much more you get done in your day effectively.
It gives you the chance to stop thinking of what hasn’t been done and having regrets. That keeps you in the past. And it stops you from thinking of what still needs to get done and worrying about the future. By being present, you let go of all of that and begin to feel the joy of life. This gives you a feeling of freedom, even if it is only fleeting to start with.
Take a moment now to sit with your breath to allow the feelings of relief, joy, freedom, and that feeling of aliveness to come to the surface. Keep doing that on a regular basis and see what connections begin to happen for you.
