A great way to power start your day is to journal and meditate. It helps you sort out your thoughts, anxieties, and troubles. It is a wonderful way to acknowledge what you have achieved. And it keeps you on track with what you are doing as we all have the tendency to be distracted from time to time, particularly when we know we need to do something and do not want to or are not sure how. Perfection gets in our way.
How to power start your day
When I first started writing on a daily basis, I felt very unsure and uncomfortable. And it had to be perfect. My mind would go blank. And I am a great chatterbox. It takes time to learn that if it does, stay with that. It is about remembering there is no right or wrong, no judgment, nor anyone telling you what to do. Also, it’s important to realise that this is your time and your way to find how to use and express your voice.
What I learnt was to just start with one word, whatever came to my mind, and write it over and over again when I felt stuck. That felt silly at first. However, it got me started. You will be amazed at where it will take you. So hang in there. Now, at times I cannot stop. It has opened me up my creative juices.
And another important part of this process is the meditation part, particularly if you do it in the morning as you are waking up. Your mind is just coming out of the deep sleep state (delta brain waves) and coming into conscious awareness and busyness (beta brain waves). This is the point where your subconscious mind taps into your intuition and imagination (alpha brain waves). This is where you have those light bulb moments and receive your insights. Your mind is in such a relaxed state without all the busy thoughts that you have during the day, it feels like you are daydreaming feeling deliciously blissed out. This is when you programme your mind for success and what you want to achieve. It is here that you anchor it into your subconscious to let it work its magic.
sit in your sacred space
Create a special place for yourself with your favourite things around you which you look forward to going to each morning. That can be anything: candles, crystals, mementos, a bunny rug in winter, in the garden in summer, cushions to sit on, a favourite mug, coloured pens and above all a beautiful journal that you love. If that is not possible, just sit anywhere you can. Do not let this stop you from starting (another potential excuse).
Mine is overlooking trees with a view down the valley. I love it. Every morning is different: it can be sunny, hot, cold, grey, misty, sun rising, or cloudy. It is like journaling: you never know what will be there for you each and every time.
My sacred space soothes my soul every time. It rejuvenates me, uplifts me, calms me or gives me peace. I feel safe. I feel safe to write whatever I need to. And now I look forward to the anticipation of what will reveal itself to me. Some days more than others. Some days something completely from left field.
