Setting your intentions. It is that time of year where we are being bombarded with how important it is to create our intentions, resolutions, focusing on what we want and how to go about it.

Something I learnt painfully over the years was that no matter how much I visualized, created vision boards, and affirmations if I did not feel it in my heart of hearts that I could achieve these goals and aspirations, I was setting myself up for failure. I was not in alignment with my true Self.

What reminded me of this was reading Gary Zukav’s book The Seat of the Soul,  where he wrote the following:

“When we align our thoughts, emotions, and actions with the highest part of ourselves, we are filled with enthusiasm, purpose, and meaning… When the personality comes fully to serve the energy of its soul, that is authentic empowerment.”

And I would like to add to that: feeling. I realised I had to also feel it, not just know it. It was important to bring it from knowing into feeling, from my mind into my heart and soul. I had to work through limiting beliefs to get there. It was interesting to see what was still holding me back from achieving my life’s purpose.

How did I do this?

  1. Meditated on how it made me feel as I was writing and visualising my goals
  2. Tapped on any emotion or negative thought that arose
  3. Wrote it all down to give me perspective and to be able to let it go

Try this out and see what changes for you.
